Board Meeting: January 5, 2020

Telephone meeting was held on January 5, 2020

Following Board Members were present: Sy Block, Tom Calvert, Eric Gibeaut ,  David Reina, Tom Ehrhart, Joe McConlogue

Barb Geschke was absent

Also present: President Jim Linder, Treasurer Rob Harter, and Secretary Kerch McConlogue

Meeting was called to order at 2:00

Joe McConlogue, as Membership Chair responsible for elections, called the meeting to order.

The purpose of this meeting is to select a Vice President, because there was no nominee offered for the election held in November/December 2019.

In the absence of an officer it is the boards’ duty to select a replacement by majority vote. There were eleven write-ins for VP, only two of which were feasible: two were bogus names, five had previously declined, two who may or may not be interested (David Kellogg and Bob Sharkey) and two who are interested (Gary Holman and Joe Montecalvo). There were no other names offered for consideration.

We’re not limited to the write-in candidates, but they are probably the best bet.

Joe McConlogue has met and talked with both Gary and Joe.  Both have been featured in the Member Spotlights in the RootesReview. (Gary Holman in November 2019 and Joe Montecalvo in January 2019).

Conversation centered around the fact that Joe Montecalvo is a fairly new member and unknown to those present. As the VP’s job includes responsibility for the United, his residence so far away from an event already under way is problematic. However, his residence in California yields the unique opportunity for a Regional Rep as a way not only to test the waters with the club but also to encourage members in the far west.

Gary Holman is well known to Board members as a member from his youth and then a returning member in more recent times.

A vote was taken. Unanimous decision was for Gary Holman to serve as Vice President.

Jim Lindner will notify/confirm his interest. Joe McConlogue will connect with Joe Montecalvo about the California Regional Rep position.

Jim will set up the semi-annual Board meeting in early February.  Slide deck/meeting agenda will be distributed shortly.
